Wave Maker

I have an eco-friendly notebook that I was given at an orientation meeting from a trip for answering a question at one of those “get-the-audience-involved” games. I am very glad I was given this notebook because it has become my go-to place for motivation. I have been filling the book page-by-page with quotes, ideas and goals. I pick things up from just about anywhere – books, movies, magazines, blogs, interviews, yoga class, … coffee mugs! I have produced a number of lists of past accomplishments and goals for the future. When I need a motivational boost or a pick-me-upper, I open this book up and flip through the pages. When I feel down, overwhelmed or disoriented, this book that I am in the process of creating will at the very least bring a smile to my face, and sometimes it is just what I need to start making waves towards another goal.

On this page I will share some words from my Wave Maker.

“Whatever you do takes time, and yet it is always now. Whenever you become anxious or stressed, you lost sight of your inner purpose.” – Eckhart Tolle from A New Earth

“To crush arrogance and embrace humility is the mark of true wisdom.”

“In life, we must share our unique gifts with others.”

“Be different. Following the herd is a sure way to mediocrity.”

“Be an inspiration to others by refusing to give up.”

“Ask yourself: What would I do if I wasn’t afraid?

“Face setbacks with grace and let go of things you have no control over.” – Jennifer Baggett from The Lost Girls

“Use the talents you possess. The woods would be very silent if not birds sang except those that sang the best.”

“Those students who develop the inner strength and wisdom to cope with the pressures they now face will bring tremendous gifts into future leaderships and personal commitments.”

“Do not compare yourself to others. We all have our own pace, set of experiences and different outcomes. You are an individual and will never be exactly like someone else. This is what builds your character!”
